All the grip of a hemostat, with a softer touch. The Signature Series Sponge Hemostats are designed for situations where you need a secure hold without the risk of damaging delicate feeders, eggs, or other items that a standard metal tip might crush or puncture. A specialized tool that earns its place in any serious keeper's kit.

What it is

12-inch locking hemostats with a sponge-padded tip, made from stainless steel with a black heat treatment finish. The sponge tip provides a firm but gentle grip — ideal for handling items that need to be held securely without being damaged.

What it's used for

  • Handling delicate feeders like waxworms, silkworms, or soft-bodied insects without crushing them
  • Moving eggs during incubation setup without damaging the shell
  • Gripping items that a standard metal tip would puncture or damage
  • Any task requiring a secure but gentle locking hold

May be appropriate for

  • Breeders handling eggs during clutch collection or incubation setup
  • Keepers feeding soft-bodied or delicate feeder insects
  • Anyone who needs a padded grip tool for enclosure or husbandry work

Specs

  • Length: 12 inches
  • Tip: Sponge-padded, locking ratchet mechanism
  • Material: Stainless steel with black heat treatment
  • Weight: 20% lighter than industry standard hemostats
  • Ring spacing: 19mm vs standard 35mm — less fatiguing, better for smaller hands
  • Corrosion-resistant finish

Husbandry notes

Clean the sponge tip regularly — it can harbor bacteria if not rinsed after contact with feeders or waste. Allow to air dry fully before storing. Replace the sponge tip if it becomes torn, compressed, or difficult to clean. Not recommended as a primary feeding tool for strike-prone species where a firmer grip is needed.

This is a specialized tool — not a replacement for standard hemostats, but a valuable addition for breeders and keepers who handle eggs or delicate feeders regularly.
