The substrate that does it all — humidity, burrowing, odor control, and aesthetics in one blend. ReptiEarth is a premium hybrid substrate combining 70% coconut coir and 30% small strand fiber, engineered to deliver the performance that serious keepers and breeders demand from a tropical or bioactive substrate.
What it is
A compressed breeder block (or bundle) of ReptiEarth — a 70/30 blend of coconut coir and small strand coconut fiber. Expands significantly when hydrated, yielding a soft, workable substrate with excellent moisture retention and a natural, earthy appearance.
What it's used for
- Primary substrate for tropical and humidity-dependent reptile enclosures
- Bioactive setups where moisture retention and microfauna support are priorities
- Burrowing species that need a substrate with enough body to hold tunnels
- Breeding setups where consistent humidity is critical for egg development and shedding
May be appropriate for
- Ball pythons, boa constrictors, and other tropical snake species
- Crested geckos, day geckos, and other humidity-loving lizards
- Blue-tongued skinks and other species that benefit from a soft, burrowing substrate
- Dart frogs and tropical amphibians in bioactive setups
Specs
- Blend: 70% coconut coir / 30% small strand coconut fiber
- Format: Compressed breeder block or bundle — expands when hydrated
- Excellent moisture retention and humidity buffering
- Supports burrowing behavior and holds tunnel structure
- Odor control through natural coconut properties
Husbandry notes
Hydrate the block fully before use — break apart and allow to expand completely, then adjust moisture level to your species' needs. For most tropical species, the substrate should feel like a wrung-out sponge: moist but not dripping. Spot-clean regularly and do full substrate changes every 3–6 months depending on enclosure size and animal load. Works well as a base layer in bioactive builds.
The breeder block format is the most cost-effective way to stock up — ideal if you're running multiple enclosures or doing regular substrate changes.
