The finer side of coconut chip — for keepers who want a cleaner look and tighter particle control. MicroChip is a fine-grade coconut chip substrate that delivers the humidity retention and odor control you expect from premium coconut bedding, with a smaller particle size that works especially well for smaller species, hatchlings, and setups where a more refined aesthetic matters.
What it is
A ready-to-use, fine-grade coconut chip substrate. MicroChip's smaller particle size provides excellent surface coverage, reduces dust, and creates a more uniform substrate bed compared to medium or coarse chip options — while still maintaining strong moisture retention and absorbency.
What it's used for
- Primary substrate for smaller reptile species and hatchlings
- Enclosures where a finer, more uniform substrate texture is preferred
- Humidity buffering in tropical and semi-tropical setups
- Keepers who want the coconut chip performance profile in a smaller particle size
May be appropriate for
- Hatchling ball pythons, corn snakes, and other juvenile snakes
- Leopard geckos and other small lizard species
- Smaller gecko species where larger chips may be awkward
- Any keeper who prefers a finer substrate texture for aesthetics or species suitability
Specs
- Chip size: Fine — smaller particle size than standard ReptiChip
- Ready to use — no prep required
- Excellent moisture retention and absorbency
- Low dust for a cleaner substrate experience
Husbandry notes
Fine substrates compact more readily than coarser options — fluff and aerate periodically to maintain structure and prevent anaerobic pockets in high-humidity setups. Spot-clean regularly and replace fully every 3–6 months. Monitor for mold in very humid enclosures and ensure adequate airflow.
MicroChip is a great choice for hatchlings or smaller species where standard chip size feels oversized. It's also a popular option for keepers who prefer a more refined, uniform substrate appearance.
